ABC reported that country music superstar Dolly Parton died Tuesday at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer, according to a statement provided by her publicist.
Parton died peacefully at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville while surrounded by loved ones, the statement said.

Her publicist initially announced Parton’s death without providing a cause, saying only that the singer had “died peacefully.” A later statement said Parton died after “bravely facing a brief battle with cancer.”
A small private service will be held for immediate family, according to her publicist.
