A 35-year-old Clovis man was arrested Tuesday after police said he hit a woman, forced her into a vehicle and drove away near Herndon and Fowler avenues.

Several callers contacted 911 just before 8 a.m. to report seeing a man strike a woman and force her into a vehicle, according to the Clovis Police Department.

Officers responded to the area, canvassed the neighborhood and began investigating leads to locate the vehicle, suspect and victim.

Using information provided by multiple 911 callers and technology, officers and detectives located the vehicle in Fresno with the suspect and victim inside, police said.

The suspect, identified as Steven Hamby, was arrested without incident. Police said the victim is safe.

Hamby was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping, domestic violence, and possession of a controlled substance.
