A woman was arrested Monday after her dog died while tied to a stroller in the back of a pickup truck at a northwest Fresno hotel, police said.
Fresno police officers responded about 8:05 a.m. to a pet-friendly hotel in the 5000 block of North Barcus Avenue for a report of fatal dog abuse.
Police said the suspect, identified as April Ayers, had checked into the hotel and left her dog tied to a stroller in the bed of her truck while she slept inside her room.
The dog was left without food or water, police said. While tied to the stroller, the dog jumped from the truck bed and hanged itself, according to police.
Ayers was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of animal cruelty.
