Two men were arrested after Madera County sheriff’s detectives searching a residence as part of a weapons investigation found firearms, suspected cocaine and about 100 homemade and illegally purchased firearm conversion devices, authorities said.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office said its Narcotics Enforcement Team, known as MADNET, served a search warrant Friday, Aug. 7, in the area of Oakhill Road and Avenue 20.
Detectives contacted an adult man sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the driveway and detained him without incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators found a loaded, unserialized privately manufactured firearm inside a satchel on the vehicle’s passenger seat, authorities said. The firearm was equipped with an auto sear, a conversion device capable of converting a semiautomatic pistol into a fully automatic firearm.
During a search of the residence, detectives found several firearms classified as assault weapons under California law, as well as privately manufactured firearms, firearm suppressors and about 100 homemade and illegally purchased conversion devices for pistols and rifles, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives also found a 3D printer they believe was used to manufacture firearms, along with suspected cocaine, digital scales, and a large amount of cash, authorities said.
Two adult men were arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail. Their names were not provided.
The men face charges including possession of cocaine for sale, possession of an assault weapon, possession or manufacture of an auto sear, possession or manufacture of a firearm suppressor, and possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm.
