A 24-year-old man was arrested early Thursday after police said he violated a domestic violence restraining order and tried to hide from officers in a dumpster.

Fresno police said Northwest District officers responded about 1:05 a.m. to a confidential location for a reported restraining order violation.

Police said Elijah Brown was at the location yelling at the victim before fleeing on foot from officers.

The Fresno Police Department’s Skywatch Unit, Air1, was on routine patrol and responded as officers surrounded the apartment complex, police said. The aircrew used an infrared camera to search the area and spotted a man running through the complex before attempting to hide.

Police said the aircrew then saw the man jump into a nearby dumpster and directed officers to his location.

Officers took Brown into custody without further incident, according to police.

Brown was arrested on suspicion of violating the restraining order and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
