A 48-year-old Selma man was arrested Saturday in connection with a fatal shooting that left a woman dead, according to the Selma Police Department.

Officers responded about 4:38 a.m. Saturday to the area of Logan and Cypress streets after receiving a report of a gunshot victim.

Police said officers found a woman who had been shot and began lifesaving measures. Emergency medical personnel transported her to Adventist Health Selma, where she later died.

Investigators determined the shooting followed a disturbance at a nearby residence, police said.

Detectives identified Nicholas Salazar, 48, of Selma as the suspect and arrested him in connection with the homicide investigation.

Police did not release the victim’s name or provide additional details about what led to the disturbance.
