A 17-year-old was arrested early Monday after fleeing from Visalia police on a dirt bike and crashing near railroad tracks, police said.

At about 1:53 a.m., a Visalia police officer attempted to stop a dirt bike near Mooney Boulevard and Tulare Avenue for vehicle code violations, according to the Visalia Police Department.

Police said the rider failed to yield, prompting a pursuit.

The pursuit ended near Conyer Street and School Avenue when the dirt bike went off the roadway at a T-intersection and collided with railroad tracks, police said.

The 17-year-old driver was arrested and taken to a local hospital for medical clearance.

Police said the juvenile will be booked on suspicion of felony evading a police officer with willful or wanton disregard for the safety of others, driving without a valid driver’s license, and driving under the influence.
