A 51-year-old man was arrested Sunday after police said he vandalized a garage and initially refused officers’ commands to leave a Visalia residence.
Visalia police officers responded about 4:44 p.m. to a disturbance in the 2500 block of West Whitendale Avenue, according to the Visalia Police Department.
Officers found Johnny Vasquez, 51, vandalizing the inside of the garage while under the influence of a controlled substance, police said. Vasquez was restrained from the residence and had an outstanding felony warrant for weapons charges and vandalism.
Police established a perimeter around the residence and ordered Vasquez to come outside. He initially exited the home but went back inside and ignored officers’ commands, police said.
After officers made K-9 announcements, Vasquez surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
Vasquez was booked on suspicion of vandalism and resisting arrest, as well as the outstanding felony warrant.
