You might call it the ultimate “house” visit. One doctor from UCSF-Fresno just wanted to help his home state in the battle against coronavirus.
“Please come help us in New York now,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said at the end of March.

Doctor Leaves Fresno Sunday Morning

William Chiang, M.D., left Sunday for New York, and UCSF-Fresno tweeted a picture of Chiang just before his departure. Chiang was quoted in the tweet as saying, “I started seeing posts online asking for help and realized I need to go back to my city and do my part.”

According to his UCSF-Fresno bio, Chiang did his four-year Emergency Medicine Program at Jacobi/Montefiore of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. His hometown is listed as Bayside, which is a neighborhood in Queens.

NY Hospital Express Gratefulness

New York-Presbyterian Hospital expressed how thankful it is to receive help in a series of tweets.
A team of 20 UCSF nurses and doctors are working in New York City for the next month to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Utah Health Workers Also Head to New York

A Utah-based health care organization will send two virus response teams of medical workers to New York hospitals suffering staffing shortages because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Intermountain Healthcare announced Saturday that the 50-member teams will be sent for two weeks, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.
The Utah workers will be assigned to New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Northwell Health Inc. beginning early next week.
The teams were assembled after hundreds of medical workers and clinicians expressed a desire to help counterparts in other states struggling to treat rising numbers of patients, Intermountain said.

A Place for Them to Stay

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on his website several hotels are making rooms available for healthcare workers coming to help.
The InterContinental Times Square, Yotel, and the Hudson Hotel are providing an additional 800 free rooms for healthcare workers coming to New York City from out of state. The hotels are collaborating with the Hotel Association of New York City, MetLife, and the Related Companies.
