A wildfire burning near Alpaugh in Tulare County grew to 500 acres Wednesday afternoon, prompting evacuation warnings for two areas, according to the CalFire.

The Alpaugh Fire was burning near Avenue 42 and Road 38 and was 0% contained as of 3:41 p.m., according to CalFire. The fire started Wednesday afternoon and remained active.

Evacuation warnings were in effect for zones TLC-E275 and TLC-E298. CalFire said an evacuation warning indicates a potential threat to life or property and that people who need additional time to evacuate, as well as those with pets and livestock, should leave.

The Tulare County Fire Department is the agency overseeing the incident.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
