CA Bill Could Increase Ag Worker Wage to Nearly $20 an Hour

GV Wire reporter Edward Smith talks with KMPH Fox 26 “Great Day” anchor Kim Stephens about a California bill that is proposing an increase wage hike for agriculture workers.
Proponents say that farmworkers need more support and a living wage. Opponents say that if the the hike becomes law it will add to rising costs and water availability challenges.
If approved by Newsom, the bill would take effect Jan. 1, 2027. The bill targets non-California residents approved to work here, adding also “corresponding employees” — meaning California residents.
