Vice President Kamala Harris has made significant gains against former President Donald Trump in the presidential race, according to several recent polls, Forbes reports.

Since taking over the campaign from Joe Biden, Harris now leads Trump by four points in the latest Morning Consult survey, marking a high point for a Democratic candidate in nearly a year.

Polls Show Harris Over Trump

In the Morning Consult poll, Harris holds a 48% to 44% lead over Trump, with 5% of registered voters preferring another candidate and 4% undecided. This is the third consecutive week the poll has shown Harris ahead of Trump.

A CBS News poll shows Harris with a one-point national lead over Trump, boosted by increased support from younger and Black voters and women who believe Harris will prioritize their interests. The poll, conducted from July 30 to Aug. 2, also indicates that Harris and Trump are tied in seven key battleground states, including Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Despite leading Harris in at least eight other polls since Biden’s withdrawal, Trump has seen his lead narrow. Most surveys show Harris improving her standing compared to Biden, with her approval rating rising since announcing her candidacy. In a five-way race with third-party candidates, Harris leads Trump 46% to 44%, according to the Economist/YouGov poll.

RealClearPolitics’ latest polling average shows Trump with a narrow 0.7-point lead over Harris, while FiveThirtyEight’s average gives Harris a 1.9-point advantage.

The Democratic Party has rallied around Harris, with nearly 80% of Democratic voters expressing support for her candidacy, according to a New York Times/Siena survey. Harris’ favorability rating has climbed to 43%, up from 35% in previous polls, as she consolidates support from Democratic governors and members of Congress, effectively securing the party’s nomination.
