Fresno County authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects and locating a vehicle believed to be connected to a 2017 homicide in Selma.
On Aug. 31, 2017, officers with the Selma Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 1400 block of Mill Street near Olive Street. When officers arrived, they found Desiree Austin, 15, suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.
Investigators believe a blue 2002 Buick Rendezvous with California license plate 7EDR747 was involved in the shooting. Witnesses described the driver as a Hispanic woman with her hair in a messy bun. Authorities also believe a man was inside the vehicle at the time.
Detectives say the firearm used in the case may be linked to another shooting in Fresno County and that the investigation remains active.
