A 30-year-old woman was killed and a 40-year-old man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Thursday in Woodville in what authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called about 3:10 p.m. to the 16500 block of Crystal Street for a reported domestic violence incident. While deputies were responding, they were told someone had been shot.
Deputies entered the home and found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds.
The woman was taken to Sierra View District Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The man was pronounced dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Sheriff’s Office. A gun was found in his possession.
A child was present at the time of the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, but preliminary information indicates the domestic violence incident turned fatal and is being investigated as a murder-suicide, authorities said.
No additional information was immediately released.
