A Kings County man has been sentenced to 120 years to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of multiple sexual offenses involving two young children, according to the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.

Carlos Yanez Cavazos, 54, was convicted on April 3 in Department 8 of the Kings County Superior Court following a weeklong trial. Jurors found him guilty of two counts of sexual penetration with a child 10 years of age or younger, three counts of oral copulation with a child 10 years of age or younger, and three counts of lewd acts against a child under the age of 14.

Prosecutors said the crimes involved two victims, a 4-year-old girl and her 5-year-old sister, with the offenses occurring around the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025. Jurors also found true special allegations that the crimes involved multiple victims and that the victims were particularly vulnerable.

On Thursday, Cavazos was sentenced in Department 8 of the Kings County Superior Court to 120 years to life in state prison.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Shannon Byrne and investigated by Detective DJ Vargas of the Kings County Sheriff’s Office.
