Fresno firefighters responded just after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday to the 2700 block of E. Madison Ave. after receiving multiple reports of a fire, according to the Fresno Fire Department.

Crews arrived to find a detached garage fully involved in flames. Firefighters quickly attacked the fire and prevented it from spreading to a nearby home, which did not sustain any damage.

Two people were inside the residence at the time of the fire. One person was evaluated and treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Prior to firefighters arriving, neighbors helped rescue a pet pig from the backyard.

The department said the animal, identified as “Big Mama,” is doing fine.
