The number of COVID-19 coronavirus cases in Tulare County rose to seven on Thursday, while Fresno County reported its third confirmed COVID-19 case.
Tulare County’s latest cases include a person between the ages of 18 and 24 with an unknown source of contact with the coronavirus. The other is an individual between 25 and 40 years old who contracted the virus while traveling.

Tulare County: Four New Confirmed Cases Over Two Days

The new cases come on top of two others announced Wednesday by the Tulare County Health Department. One patient is an adult between 18 and 25 while the other is over 65 years old.
Both are reported to be well enough to self-quarantine at home.
“Our community should understand that we are at a higher level of risk and they should take precautions wherever you go,” the Tulare County Public Health office said in a news release Thursday.
One COVID-19 patient in Tulare County is in critical condition at Kaweah Delta District Hospital.
The Tulare County Health Department ordered all bars in the county to close Tuesday.
But while Tulare County and several of its cities have declared states of emergency, other than the bar closures none has taken additional local action beyond guidelines issued by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Fresno County Confirms Third Case

The most recently confirmed COVID-19 case in Fresno County is reported to be travel-related and not community-acquired. The Fresno County Department of Health said the infected individual is self-isolating and recovering at home, as are two other county residents who were previously confirmed to have contracted the virus.
On Thursday, Fresno County did announce that it would close all public counters in its public works and planning departments. The closure begins Monday and will be in effect through Tuesday, April 14.
However, services will continue via email and over the telephone, the county said.
Details are available at the county’s public works website: www.fresnocountyca.gov/publicworks.

Coronavirus in Other Valley Counties

Madera County has two confirmed COVID-19 cases. The second one was reported Thursday.
“The case is community transmission with unknown origin and is being investigated,” the Madera County Department of Public Health wrote in a news release.
Kings, Mariposa, and Merced counties have reported no positive tests.
But the Kern County Department of Health has confirmed four COVID-19 positives. A visitor to Kern also tested positive for the virus earlier this week.
Kern health officials said Thursday they are investigating the circumstances of the latest case and any contacts the person might have had.

City of Fresno Orders Shelter-in-Place

On Wednesday, the city of Fresno enacted a shelter-in-place order requiring residents to remain at home other than for essential needs like purchasing food, medicine, medical visits and the like.
No other cities in Fresno County have imposed such a heightened level of self-isolation.
