Reedley police arrested a 48-year-old man in connection with a brush fire near the Manning Bridge that investigators believe was intentionally set, the department said Thursday.
The fire was reported along the Kings River near the bridge at about 10:44 p.m. Monday, according to police.
Investigators conducted follow-up interviews and reviewed evidence, including video, that identified Andres Ledesma as a suspect in connection with setting the fire, police said.
Ledesma, whom police described as an unhoused man who frequents the Reedley area, was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on one count of arson.
Police said a series of brush fires have occurred during the past several weeks in Reedley’s river bottom area adjacent to the Kings River. Those fires are also believed to have been intentionally set and remain under investigation.
Authorities said they have not established a connection between Ledesma and any of the other fires.
