Fresno police arrested a man Wednesday night after officers said they found a handgun underneath his bicycle during a stop near Jensen and Elm avenues.

Officers were in the area about 11:03 p.m. when they stopped the bicyclist for a vehicle code violation, according to the Fresno Police Department.

Police said the man became combative and uncooperative during the stop. Officers detained him and found a .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun underneath his bicycle, police said.

Officers determined the man had prior felony convictions and was prohibited from possessing firearms.

The man was booked into the Fresno County Jail on firearm-related charges.

Police did not release his name.
