An opening date for the massive Dick’s House of Sport has been set with the company and Fashion Fair Mall anticipating late 2027 or early 2028 for the experimental retail concept.
Demolition continues of the former Forever 21 at the eastern end of the mall, with crews tearing away at the building to make way for the House of Sport.
The 120,000-square-foot building will be part of a duo of stores set to be the first in the state.
“This development marks an important step forward for Fashion Fair and the Central Valley,” said Joey Elliot, general manager at Fashion Fair. “The arrival of Dick’s House of Sport allows us to set the stage for the center’s continued elevation and transformation.”

Climbing Wall, Batting Cages, Track and Field
What sets the House of Sport apart from other Dick’s locations are the activities available for customers. According to a news release from the mall, the location will have a rock climbing wall; multiple golf bays with TrackMan simulators; a cage that can be used for softball, baseball, lacrosse, and soccer; and a multi-use track and field.
Technology will help professional and amateur athletes test equipment and hone their skills, the release stated.
Dick’s announced that the first House of Sport location would be in San Diego’s Mission Valley.
