The city of Fresno proclaimed Thursday as “Greg and Dre Day,” honoring radio personalities Greg Hoffman and Andre “Dre” Covington for more than 25 years of entertaining and connecting with Central Valley listeners.
During the City Hall ceremony, Hoffman credited his family — particularly his parents, wife and daughters — for shaping his life and career. He also thanked listeners for giving the show an opportunity to become part of their daily routines.
Covington reflected on his 26 years in Fresno, recalling how the community embraced him and how listeners shared stories about multiple generations growing up with the show. He said those connections made the work especially rewarding.
The duo, whose Q97.1 morning show concluded Sept. 18, built a following through humor, candid conversations, and discussions that encouraged listeners to engage with issues beyond the radio. Their program also provided a platform for diverse perspectives and local voices.
Hoffman is still with Q97.1. He hosts a show called “The Book of Greg” spotlighting local artists.
