Fresno police arrested a 60-year-old man Sunday after officers said he assaulted his ex-girlfriend, threw her from his vehicle and kicked her as she pleaded, “Don’t kill me.”

Keith Jerome McCray was arrested during a traffic stop after officers learned he was wanted in connection with an incident earlier this month, Fresno police told GV Wire.

Officers responded about 9:20 p.m. Oct. 16 to a domestic disturbance.

A witness told police they saw McCray assaulting a woman and attempting to force her into his vehicle. The witness reported hearing the woman yell, “Don’t kill me,” before McCray fled in a pickup truck.

When officers arrived, the witness directed them to the woman, who told police McCray was her ex-boyfriend and had assaulted her and thrown her from his vehicle.

Police said the woman had visible injuries consistent with an assault.

The witness later told officers they saw McCray drag the woman from his vehicle, causing her to fall onto the asphalt, before kicking her multiple times while she was on the ground.

The witness said McCray then put the woman back into his vehicle as she repeatedly yelled, “Don’t kill me.” Police said the witness reported seeing McCray kick her again before fleeing.

McCray was arrested after officers determined he was wanted in connection with the incident.
