The California Highway Patrol is warning motorists to expect heavier traffic and possible delays when the North Fork Mono Casino opens Wednesday.

The casino’s grand opening is expected to draw a significant number of visitors, potentially increasing traffic on nearby highways, ramps, and local roads, CHP Madera said.

Motorists traveling through the area are advised to plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and watch for changing traffic conditions.

For drivers heading to the casino northbound on Highway 99, CHP recommends taking the Avenue 12 exit, exit 151, turning left onto westbound Avenue 12, then right onto northbound Road 23. Drivers should then turn right onto eastbound Avenue 18, also known as Golden State Boulevard. The casino will be on the right.

Southbound Highway 99 drivers are advised to take the Avenue 18 ½ exit, Exit 159, continue straight onto southbound Road 23 near the Shell gas station, and turn left onto eastbound Avenue 18/Golden State Boulevard. The casino will be on the right.

CHP said motorists should also watch for temporary casino and detour signs.

Drivers are asked to remain patient, avoid unsafe maneuvers, and be courteous to other motorists as traffic increases.
