The Clovis Police Department is urging motorists to use caution Wednesday after a power outage disrupted traffic signals at several intersections in east Clovis.

Police issued a traffic alert at 11:40 a.m., warning drivers that multiple traffic signals were not functioning.

Authorities reminded motorists to treat intersections with malfunctioning traffic signals as four-way stops and exercise caution while traveling through affected areas.

The department also shared video from the intersection of Armstrong and Barstow avenues showing emergency personnel responding to an apparent traffic collision involving a white SUV.

The traffic disruptions come amid a widespread power outage that left more than 7,200 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers without electricity Wednesday morning as rain returned to the Valley.

PG&E reported that 7,295 customers were affected by the outage, which began around 10:50 a.m. The utility estimated power would be restored by 1:15 p.m.

The cause of the outage remains under investigation.
