Fresno police cited more than 140 people during a city-wide bicycle and pedestrian safety operation Saturday aimed at improving road safety.
The enforcement effort, which ran from noon to 10 p.m., resulted in 90 citations for drivers violating the California Vehicle Code, the police department said in a statement.
Infractions included unsafe turning movements, speeding, running red lights, and using handheld cellphones while driving. One driver was arrested for DUI.
Officers also cited 54 pedestrians and bicyclists for various violations. In total, 92 drivers were contacted during the operation.
Another safety enforcement event is scheduled for September during California Pedestrian Safety Month.
The program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
