A Fresno man accused of stealing more than 100 packs of Pokémon cards during an armed robbery at a Visalia gas station has been arrested, the Visalia Police Department said in a statement.

Officers responded around 9:50 a.m. Friday to a report of a robbery at the ARCO AM/PM on North Dinuba Boulevard.

Witnesses told police a man entered the store and took a display case containing between 100 and 120 packs of Pokémon cards, valued at roughly $1,000.

As the suspect exited the store, employees followed him outside, police said. The man then lifted his shirt to reveal a firearm tucked in his waistband, prompting workers to back off and call 911. He fled the scene shortly after.

Detectives with the department’s Violent Crimes Unit identified the suspect as Michael Baker, 30, of Fresno. Investigators later learned Baker was connected to similar thefts involving Pokémon cards at several businesses in the Fresno area.

On Sunday, McFarland police located and arrested Baker. He was transported to Visalia for questioning and will be booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility on suspicion of armed robbery.
