Amnesty International has accused Israel of committing genocide during its war in Gaza, marking the first time a major human rights organization has made such an allegation in an ongoing conflict, reported The Guardian.
In a 296-page report, Amnesty detailed violations under the Genocide Convention, including killing, causing harm, and creating life-threatening conditions with intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza.

Israel ‘Unleashed Hell’ on Gaza
The report described Israel as having “unleashed hell” on Gaza’s 2.3 million residents while acknowledging Hamas’s atrocities against Israelis did not justify genocide.
The findings, based on fieldwork, interviews, and extensive evidence, highlighted deliberate obstruction of aid and destruction of essential infrastructure, resulting in a collapse of basic services.
Amnesty Secretary General Agnès Callamard called for urgent action, stating, “Our damning findings must serve as a wake-up call: this is genocide and it must stop now.”

Will Israel Call Report ‘Antisemitic’?
The report urged the UN to enforce a ceasefire, impose sanctions, and halt arms sales to Israel, while calling for accountability from Hamas for the October 2023 attacks.
Legal experts predict backlash from Israel, which has denied similar past accusations, labeling them as antisemitic.
