COARSEGOLD ā€” Chris Daughtry and his band Daughtry performed at the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino on Saturday, delivering an explosive performance. The Fourth of July weekend concert marked the start of Chukchansi’s summer concert lineup, setting a high bar for the season.

The crowd in attendance savored every moment of the show. The former contestant from the fifth season of “American Idol” and his band demonstrated why they’ve been a successful act for the past two decades. Despite the hot day, as the Coarsegold night approached, Daughtry made the evening seem cool.

Setlist Highlights

The band played a mix of classics and new originals. The set kicked off with “Changes Are Coming.” The most surprising song they played, which got everyone in the mood, was their rendition of the Journey classic, “Separate Ways.” They then performed “Pieces” and followed that with a track they had never played live before, “Nervous.”

The highlights of the night were the times when Daughtry was alone on stage with an acoustic guitar, singing his heart out. The applause grew when they played, “Waiting for Superman.” The crowd stood up and cheered when he played his career-defining single, “It’s Not Over.” The crowd moved and rocked out when they performed “Over You.”

Encore Performance

After leaving the stage, leaving the crowd thinking the show was over, the band returned for an encore. They started with another career staple, “Home,” followed by “Heavy Is the Crown.” Daughtry concluded the night with “Artificial,” his highest charting song that reached No.1 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

The key takeaway from his performance is his heartfelt and soulful delivery. His music, down to the lyrics, is his passion. For a man who has experienced highs and lows, his music is not just a livelihood, but a catharsis. This is evident in each song he performs, and his commitment to his craft is why he has persevered.

Upcoming Concerts at Chukchansi

Chukchansi has a great lineup of bands to look forward to in the upcoming months, including Los Lobos & Los Lonely Boys on Aug. 10, Chris Janson on Sept. 21, and REO Speedwagon on Sept. 28.
