A vehicle fire closed several lanes of northbound Interstate 5 near Grapevine on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

As of 9 a.m., only the No. 1 lane of northbound I-5 south of Grapevine Road was open while crews worked to clean up the vehicle fire.

CHP advised drivers to expect delays through the area and estimated it would take more than an hour to reopen the other lanes.

Authorities urged motorists traveling through the area to keep their eyes on the road and avoid distractions.
