Fresno police issued dozens of citations and impounded multiple vehicles during a Sunday evening operation targeting illegal street racing and sideshows, authorities said.
Motor units conducted citywide enforcement and made 39 traffic stops, resulting in 35 citations, according to a department news release. Officers impounded seven vehicles, including six for 30 days under California law, police said.
Police also issued six state referee citations — often used for modified or unsafe vehicles — and arrested one person on suspicion of DUI.
The department issued a reminder that vehicles involved in illegal racing or sideshows, including those aiding or abetting such activity, are subject to a 30-day impound.
“Fresno is not the place to commit these hazardous crimes,” the department said, urging witnesses to call 911 from a safe distance if they observe sideshow activity.
