Tom Steyer is a force in California politics. The successful hedge fund manager turned environmental activist at NextGen Climate donated $91 million in the last campaign, making him the country’s top donor according to Open Secrets. He has also contemplated running for governor in 2018.
Recently, Steyer stopped in Fresno to speak at a fundraiser for the county’s Democratic party. GV Wire spoke with him in a long-form interview discussing a range of topics. In part one, Steyer shares his thoughts on President Trump’s first 100 days in office. His grade: time to call for a parent-teacher conference. Steyer is critical of Trump’s handling of immigration issues and isn’t afraid to share his opinion.
In parts 2 and 3 to be released later this week, Steyer talks about his plans to fix housing, water and what factors will determine if he runs for governor or not.
