A police pursuit that began in Clovis ended in a multivehicle crash in Fresno on Friday night, sending an infant to the hospital and leaving three adults complaining of pain, authorities said.

Clovis police officers and detectives attempted to arrest a felony suspect about 8:22 p.m., but the suspect refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit, according to the Clovis Police Department.

The chase ended near Armstrong and Shields avenues in Fresno when a collision involving four other vehicles occurred.

Three adults complained of pain and received medical care at the scene. An infant was taken to a hospital as a precaution, police said.

Authorities said no law enforcement vehicles were involved in the collision.

The suspect fled the crash scene on foot but was caught by Clovis police officers a short distance away.

Police said the suspect remains in custody and faces felony charges. His identity and the specific charges were not released.

The Fresno Police Department is investigating the collision.
