A 23-year-old man was arrested after police said he crashed a vehicle into a Jack in the Box in Madera and fled on foot.

Madera police said officers were dispatched to the restaurant in the 900 block of North Gateway Drive after receiving a report that a motorist had crashed into the side of the building.

Police said the driver left the scene on foot following the collision.

Several people in the area spotted the driver and provided information that helped officers locate him, police said.

Officers apprehended Benito Chipahua, 23, following a brief foot chase.

No one was injured in the collision, according to police.

Chipahua was arrested on suspicion of fleeing the scene and driving under the influence of alcohol.
