Fresno police arrested a 41-year-old driver Thursday evening after an automated license plate reader alerted officers to a stolen vehicle from the Los Angeles area, authorities said.

Officers assigned to the Northeast District Safety Team received the alert at about 6:50 p.m. while the vehicle was within the Northeast Policing District, police said.

Officers conducted a felony traffic stop at First Street and Santa Ana Avenue.

Police identified the driver as Kelly McKinney, 41.

McKinney was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges related to the stolen vehicle and an outstanding burglary warrant, police said.
