Flower has already survived more in her first seven months than most dogs ever will.

The 35-pound puppy was found with her mother and grandmother in a rural orchard, where the three dogs had been fighting to survive for months.

By the time rescuers reached Flower, she was close to death.

She had bite wounds across her body and neck after apparently being attacked by a larger dog or possibly a coyote. Rescuers were initially warned that Flower probably would not survive the night.

She did.

Four months later, Flower has gone from a critically injured puppy to an energetic young dog who loves playing with other dogs and has discovered one particularly effective source of motivation: treats.

Rescuers say Flower is alert, eager to learn and willing to do just about anything when food is involved.

Flower is believed to be part border collie based on her grandmother and, at about 35 pounds, is considered nearly full grown.

She can be shy when meeting new people, but her rescuers say a little patience gives her the chance to show off the playful personality that emerged during her recovery.

After surviving an orchard, a serious attack and a night she wasn’t expected to make it through, Flower is ready for her next chapter.

And with the right person willing to give her some time, rescuers say this Flower will blossom.
