A man wanted on a domestic violence charge turned himself in Wednesday following a social media campaign by Valley Crime Stoppers and coverage by local media, but his booking was delayed, authorities told GV Wire.
Danny Castillo, 41, was among 15 suspects featured Tuesday by Valley Crime Stoppers and the Fresno Police Department. The goal: locate those wanted in domestic violence cases.
Fresno police confirmed with GV Wire that Castillo turned himself in after seeing himself on social media.
He was wanted on felony charges of domestic violence, false imprisonment, and dissuading a witness. He also had a misdemeanor charge of cruelty to a child, authorities said.
According to Fresno County Sheriff’s Office records, Castillo appeared in the jail system at 12:53 p.m. Wednesday, but his record was marked “refused by booking nurse.”
The sheriff’s office told GV Wire that individuals must undergo a medical evaluation by a nurse before being booked into jail.
In some cases, individuals may require hospital treatment before the booking process can be completed, authorities said.
His booking remains pending, authorities told GV Wire. Once he is booked, his bail will be set at $65,000.
