Pacific Gas and Electric Co. notified Fresno residents Thursday that power in the south Tower District was not expected to be restored until Saturday.

The outage, caused by a downed transformer, began Wednesday afternoon and affected 519 customers, according to text messages sent to residents and obtained by GV Wire.

In total, PG&E reports 85 power outages in Fresno affecting nearly 3,000 people.

Another Tower District outage delayed a heavily attended community meeting about neighborhood safety, Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer said during Thursday’s City Council meeting.

Power was restored shortly afterward, allowing the meeting to proceed, Dyer said.
