A Fresno man was arrested Wednesday evening after police used surveillance cameras, a drone, and assistance from residents to track him down following the theft of an electric bicycle, the Clovis Police Department said in a news release.

Officers responded shortly after 4:45 p.m. to a 911 call reporting a stolen e-bike near Shaw and Leonard avenues, according to a police.

As officers were dispatched, the department’s Real-Time Information Center used the city’s camera network, while a Drone First Responder was launched to help locate the suspect.

The technology helped direct officers to an area near Gettysburg and Locan avenues, where the suspect had abandoned the stolen bicycle, police said.

A Fresno Police Department helicopter and bystanders also assisted in the search.

Officers eventually located the suspect hiding in the backyard of a home and arrested him without incident.

Police identified the suspect as Juan Valencia, 27, of Fresno.

Valencia was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of grand theft and obstructing a peace officer.

No injuries were reported, and police said the stolen e-bike was being returned to its owner.
