gvwireThe outlook for local skiers quickly pivoted last weekend when heavy snows powered China Peak to its earliest opening since 2010.
Now, with the National Weather Service forecast calling an 80% chance of snow Friday night in the Huntington Lake area and heavy snow throughout Saturday, the resort is bustling with activity.
Already, the resort has a snow base of 7 feet, including 2 feet since Tuesday.
It will be open Friday through Sunday and operators have an eye on quickly transitioning to seven days a week.
Crews are working on China Peak’s new terrain park and expect it to be ready soon.
This Saturday, world 140-pound boxing champion Jose Ramirez will hit the slopes and also meet with fans during an afternoon meet-and-great at the day lodge.
Ramirez will sign posters and give away two signed boxing gloves.
