A Dinuba restaurant operator has been indicted on federal drug and firearms charges after investigators said he sold wholesale quantities of methamphetamine from a Round Table Pizza restaurant, federal prosecutors announced Thursday.
A federal grand jury indicted Kawal Preet Singh, 50, an Indian national unlawfully present in the United States, on charges of distribution of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, U.S. Attorney Eric Grant said.
According to court documents, Singh operated a Round Table Pizza restaurant in Dinuba, where prosecutors allege he sold wholesale quantities of methamphetamine while armed with illegal firearms.
An investigation into Indian organized crime in the Central Valley identified Singh as a subject, prosecutors said.
Federal agents searched Singh’s home and business Aug. 18 and seized more than 40 pounds of methamphetamine, three firearms, and more than $10,000 in cash, according to court documents.
The FBI and Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert L. Veneman-Hughes is prosecuting the case.
If convicted on the drug trafficking charges, Singh faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison, along with a fine of up to $10 million.
The firearm charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years, which would run consecutively to any other sentence, and a maximum of life in prison.
