At the end of a packed meeting agenda, the Hanford City Council will consider on Tuesday the censure of Councilman Art Brieno.
Brieno has been accused of harassment, invasion of privacy, disclosure of confidential personnel information, and retaliation by the city’s Community Development Director Darlene Mata.
An independent investigation of the allegations conducted by an outside attorney concluded that Brieno engaged in conduct that was unbecoming of a council member.
Brieno announced his resignation from the council in late January but then rescinded it and continues to serve of the council.
If approved, the proposed censure resolution would remove Brieno from all city committees, commissions and appointments, prohibit him from traveling on city business, and require him to attend sensitivity training.
