After visiting a vaccination clinic in Arvin on Monday, Governor Gavin Newsom visited another clinic in Madera.

Today we visited a Madera County vaccination clinic that is serving communities disproportionately impacted by #COVID19. The site’s administering 450-500 doses per day & is currently vaccinating those 65+ years of age, teachers & school staff, & farmworkers,” Newsom wrote on his Twitter account.

“We did receive an increased allocation that’s specifically designated for that site and they will start administering a vaccine on Wednesday of this week.”Madera County Public Health Director Sara Bosse

According to the state’s latest numbers, Madera County has so far administered 21,789 doses of COVID-19 vaccine overall.

The governor stopped by around 4 p.m. and stayed for 20 minutes.

Newsom met with dozens of health staff including  Sara Bosse, director of Madera County Department of Public Health and health officer Dr. Simon Paul. Madera County Supervisors Rob Poythress and Leticia Gonzalez were reportedly there as well.

“We did receive an increased allocation that’s specifically designated for that site and they will start administering a vaccine on Wednesday of this week,” said Madera County Public Health Director Sara Bosse to local news outlets.

The event was not publicized to the media. His only public events on Monday were stops at clinics in Long Beach and Arvin.

A Madera County health department spokeswoman said they received only short notice of the event.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris, right, listens with her husband, Doug Emhoff, center, and former President Joe Biden as President Donald Trump is inaugurated inside the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, Jan. 20, 2025. A successful campaign for governor of California in 2026, Harris has told allies, would give her a prominent perch from which to push back against President Trump and defend Democratic priorities.
