Ed Hernandez sees his 12 years in Sacramento as solid preparation for his run to be California’s next lieutenant governor.
The Democrat has spent the last decade in the state capital representing West Covina as both an assemblyman and state senator. Now, he is running for the state’s No. 2 spot.
With California policies often at the center of national debates, Hernandez expressed concerned about the current state of political culture: “There’s just been so much division that we have, that I’ve never seen before.”
Even so, he says, “I think we’re doing everything right, here in California”
Views on Immigration, Affordable Housing & More
In his interview with GV Wire for Take 5, Hernandez talks about:
— His views on governing California through a blue lens.
— His thoughts on federal immigration practices, including his support for the movement to abolish ICE.
— Why the gas tax should remain.
— How to increase more affordable and market-rate housing.
— His thoughts on controversial Fresno State professor Randa Jarrar. The lieutenant governor serves on many boards, including the governing body for the CSU system.
