Democratic Sen. Mark Warner won reelection in Virginia on Tuesday, giving The Associated Press its first Senate race call of election night.

The AP called the race with less than 1% of the vote reporting.

Warner had been overwhelmingly favored to win another term, and his victory keeps the Virginia seat in Democratic hands.

Because the seat was already held by a Democrat, Warner’s win does not change the balance of power in the Senate as the two parties compete for control of the chamber.

Warner has represented Virginia in the Senate since 2009.
