The Associated Press called U.S. Senate races in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming on Tuesday night as polls closed across the Mountain West.

In Colorado, Democratic Sen. John Hickenlooper won reelection, defeating Republican Mark Baisley. Hickenlooper was seeking a second term after first winning the seat in 2020.

In Wyoming, Republican Harriet Hageman won the open Senate seat. Hageman, a two-term U.S. House member, had won the Republican nomination in August after Sen. Cynthia Lummis announced she would not seek reelection.

In New Mexico, Democratic Sen. Ben R. Luján won reelection over Republican Larry E. Marker. The race was called at 6 p.m. Pacific, immediately after polls closed and before any votes had been reported.

Luján, who was first elected to the Senate in 2020, previously served five terms in the U.S. House.

The three calls came as Democrats and Republicans battled for control of the Senate, where Republicans entered Election Day with a 53-47 advantage. Democrats need a net gain of four seats to take control.
