The Fresno Police Department said in a statement on Monday afternoon that at 5:38 p.m. Friday officers responded to a shooting report at the Butterfly Grove Apartments at the intersection of Fresno Street and San Jose Avenue.
Upon arrival, they found Jessinya Mina suffering from a single gunshot wound to her upper body. Despite emergency aid and transport to Community Regional Medical Center, Mina died.

Investigators determined Mina’s toddler accidentally fired a loaded 9mm handgun left accessible by her boyfriend, Andrew Sanchez, 18.
Mina and Sanchez lived at the apartment with their two children — an eight-month-old infant and a two-and-a-half-year-old toddler.
