Fresno County Man Indicted for Possessing Stolen Guns

A federal grand jury on Thursday indicted Daniel Joseph Valencia, 26, of Selma, on charges of illegal firearm possession after he was found with three stolen guns.

Valencia, who has previous felony convictions, including aggravated assault and domestic violence, is legally prohibited from possessing firearms, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Court documents indicate that Valencia was discovered with the firearms on April 28.

If convicted, Valencia faces up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, officials said.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a nationwide initiative by the U.S. Department of Justice to reduce violent crime by partnering law enforcement agencies with community organizations.
