The National Weather Service said Monday morning that a heat advisory will remain in effect through late Wednesday night for Fresno and surrounding communities.
A heat advisory means you should consider postponing or rescheduling outdoor activities, especially during the heat of the day. If you must be outside, the weather service advises people to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in the shade.
NWS in Hanford predicts that Monday’s high will reach 103 degrees. The forecast calls for afternoon highs of 102 Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by highs in the mid- to upper 90s over the weekend.
A “return to near seasonal temperatures, begins this weekend as a trough of low pressure passes over the Pacific Northwest,” NWS Hanford said in its morning forecast discussion. “This will weaken the ridge and allow it to shift further eastward.”
When Is Labor Day This Year?
By law, Labor Day is observed on the first Monday in September. Because Sept. 1 falls on a Tuesday this year, Labor Day will be Monday, Sept. 7, the latest date on which it can fall.
So what does the forecast show for Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5-7?
AccuWeather’s forecast as of Monday called for highs between 95 and 99 degrees over the Labor Day weekend.
