City of Fresno Attorney Andrew Janz and attorney Kevin Little will discuss city council candidate Naindeep Singh’s suspected DUI arrest and subsequent clearing of the charge in separate media appearances Monday.

Janz is scheduled to visit KMJ’s “Broeske & Musson” radio show from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., according to a news release from the City Attorney’s Office.

Little, who is representing Singh, said that he has scheduled a noon news conference at his office, 1225 East Divisadero. The attorney said that community members are welcome to attend. He is expected to address matters of concern arising from the arrest.

Topics Janz Is Expected to Discuss

Janz’s spokesperson said that the city attorney will offer his “full support for front-line Fresno police officers performing lawful duties without political interference.”

Janz also is expected to talk about the call by city councilmember Miguel Arias for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the release of information about Singh’s arrest.

Arias requested that the probe examine political consulting contracts involving the city attorney’s office and contracts associated with Fresno political consultant Alex Tavlian. The councilmember also asked that all records related to Singh’s arrest be preserved.

In a statement issued following an Arias news conference held Oct. 29, Janz said that allegations made about him were false and defamatory. He also said he would seek to initiate his own investigation into interference with his office’s disclosure of public records.

Singh Cleared, Receives Apologies From Casto, Dyer

Janz confirmed Singh’s Oct. 24 arrest in the Tower District the day after it occurred to at least one reporter.

Fresno Police Chief Mindy Casto and Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer apologized to Singh last week after the official toxicology report came back negative.

Singh is running against Robert Fuentes to represent District 1.
