A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murder in a Richgrove shooting, just months after being released from custody for his involvement in a separate killing, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said.

Jacob Ramirez Aguilar was arrested in Delano following a two-week investigation into a fatal shooting on Sept. 27.

Deputies responded shortly after midnight to the 20800 block of Francis Drive in Richgrove, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

CPR was performed, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Deputies Surveil Suspect

Detectives identified Aguilar as the sole suspect and used surveillance over the following two weeks to track him to the 600 block of Kensington Street in Delano.

On Tuesday, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, Homicide Unit, and CATTCH Team, along with detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at the location.

Aguilar was taken into custody and booked into the South County Detention Facility on murder charges.

Juvenile Conviction in Store Owner’s Killing

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Aguilar was previously arrested as a juvenile in December 2020 for his involvement in the killing of a store owner during an armed robbery in Waukena.

He was found guilty in that case but was released from custody in May 2026 after serving his time. Authorities said he was not placed on probation or parole following his release.

The Sept. 27 killing occurred approximately four months after Aguilar’s release.
